Hi,
first of all: fantastic plugin! You sir, have probably saved me weeks of cursing and hair-pulling. And for this I'd like to give my thanks. Which leads me to the first of two questions:
  1. Is there any way I can donate money to you. As a token of gratitude. Via Paypal or otherwise?
  2. Is it possible to hide other parts connected to the posts as well? Say, for instance, the date posted? Now it still shows even though the rest of the post is hidden. Not too pretty. I'd try myself, but PHP really isn't my area of expertice.

Okay everyone, names and emails should be back in the next revision. Also, the padlock will be part of the "category_access_padlock" CSS class. Stay tuned for a new release.

A installed your plugin under wordpress 2.1.2 Works oké, but I got problems with the Subscribe2 plugin. Notifications by e-mail in HTLM is totally disabled. I looked in the code but couldn't figure out why. Hope you might have a clue...

I would like to second what Michael Griffin said about the comments in moderation missing name, email and comment. I have the latest version of Wordpress (2.2.1) and the latest version of this plugin, Category Access 0.8.0. This is priceless plugin! I found a workaround to the bug by clicking "edit". It will display the info there, but it makes the process very cumbersome when you have lots of comments. Please help. Thanks again!

Actually, one more thought about the lock icon and CSS... better still would be to wrap locked links/posts/categories in a CSS class -- then the developer could style them in many different ways. For example, one might choose to show locked links/posts/categories as grayed out, or cross-out, or with a different icon, etc. It would add more flexibility.

Just a thought. Thanks again for a great and much-needed plugin.

Wow, it took me a long time to finally find this plugin, and I'm grateful that I did.

This is a very useful plugin -- I have a site for a private group that wants certain categories to be hidden from unregistered users, and this is just the ticket.

Haven't encountered any problems at all yet, seems to work great.

One suggestion: you might want to assign a css class to the lock icon. That way it would be easier to control its placement through the stylesheet rather than via hardcoding.

Great plugin -- thanks so much for creating it and offering it to the WP community!

David,

This is a great plugin! I am just having one difficulty with it and was wondering if you could provide some possible solutions. When I activate the plugin it works great except for the fact that the name and email of the comments awaiting moderation disappear. When I deactivate the plugin they reappear. I am running wordpress 2.1.3 and Akismet 1.14 or 2.0 (I have tried both versions and have tried your plugin without Akismet running at all).

Thanks for the plugin it is just what I have been needing!

I uploaded the directory "category-access" and activated the plugins from the Admin Panel. But it is working fine.

I am the "Administrator" for the wordpress control panel with full access. But still when users posted a new blog it listed with the title " Other’s Drafts: Sorry, you do not have sufficient privileges to view this post. ."

Another problem is on the user section I have assigned that the user user1 for the category LOCAL but on the post new it lists all the categories on the left menu..

I could not do the step
    2. Modify your wp-commentsrss2.php as described below

Can you help me to fix this?

Regards

David, your plugin works beautifully! I had troubles with it at first but then tried it out on another blog I have and it worked perfectly fine there. In the same site where I had problems, I also had troubles with the built-in "post password" feature. So, I nuked the whole site and started fresh. Everything works now and I am so pleased! Your plug-in is the best that I have seen to protect blogs from prying eyes. Thank you so much! Oh, and I'm using the Tiga theme. It works really well. - Jennifer

My code page is not part of my blog. It just has a normal HTML list for the entries. The blog page is a modified theme. I pasted in my HTML list, and left the default wp_list_categories() call that creates the category list.

Hey David, How did you get your code page to show just the "blog" link and your blog page to show available blog categories?
