Christopher’s First Emergency Room Visit
While we were in Oregon for Steven’s wedding, Christopher spent half the time in the hospital. It started during the flight there. We noticed that he was particularly grumpy in Portland, but figured he was just tired of traveling.
But that night, Dorothy woke me up worried about how hot he was. Sure enough, he was burning up. We took his temperature at over 103 degrees. So we woke up my mom to take us to the hospital.
That night the doctors were able to narrow down the cause of the fever to a urinary tract infection. They gave him antibiotics and admitted him to the pediatric ward. After about a day he was stabilized, but they kept him for two more days to be sure that the infection didn’t come back.
One funny thing: the crib. I guess they don’t want kids to escape:

Since they only had one pull-out chair, Dorothy slept in the cage with the boy.
